The collection is primarily concerned with selected activities of the Northern Pacific Railroad from 1870 to 1913. The collection includes the following materials: abstracts, addresses, agreements, briefs, bylaws, charters, collateral trust, contracts, court cases, editorials, guides, hearings, indentures, laws, leaflets, leases, letters, mortgages, official statements, opinions, pamphlets, prospectus, reports, resolutions, statements, stockholder’s reports, speeches and the Howard Elliot Farewell Dinner agendas.
Norman Walz was born July 18, 1915 at Detroit Lakes, Minnesota where he grew up and attended school. He served in the United States Navy. He married Kathryn Fasching in 1937, and they had seven children. Mr. Walz was the owner operator of the Detroit Lakes Independent Oil Company from 1950-1960.
The Northwest Oil Equipment Company grew out of the Nonwestern Supply Company, a manufacturer of a variety of forged implements, owned and operated by Martin Parries of Moorhead Minnesota. From 1944 to 1984, the Northwest Oil Equipment Company manufactured specialized storage tanks, pumps, nozzles and other equipment for use by service stations, and later, oil corporations.

Neil Wohlwend was born on May 12, 1913 in Barnesville, Minnesota, to Charles and Olga (Anderson). Neil’s grandfather was a Civil War Veteran and an early pioneer in the Clay County area. He married Ramona Glasman of Pequot, Minnesota, on January 1, 1939. They had one son, Charles.Neil graduated from Moorhead State College in 1937 and did graduate work at the University of Minnesota.
This collection consists of issues of the Non Partisan Leader, the Nation Leader, and The Leader which were published by the Non Partisan League. The collection begins with the first issue of the Non Partisan Leader in 1915 and goes through the last issue of the National Leader in 1923. (The Non Partisan Leader became the National Leader in November of 1921.)

Nels Vogel Music opened in Moorhead during 1948 and closed during the summer of 1989. Besides the normal music retail business, it conducted band clinics for conductors for several years. This collection contains information about these clinics.
Established in 1975 to actively promote the interests of wheat growers in Minnesota, the Minnesota Association of Wheat Growers is headquartered in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. It shares its facilities with a companion organization, the Minnesota Wheat Research and Promotion Council. Both organizations devote their efforts to a variety of activities including sponsoring research on wheat cultivation, promoting legislation for wheat prices and supports, marketing of Minnesota wheat in the nation and abroad, and acting as a clearing house of information for wheat farmers in the region.
