Network Issues Update #24

Dragons – Today is our final network issues update to employees! IT is continuing to work on overall service restoration. We’ve reached a stage where we’d like you to contact the IT Helpdesk for services that either aren’t working as expected or for those services that aren’t yet available.
Employee News will be shared on Tuesdays and Thursdays until the automated system is restored. Please submit your news or event to marketingteam@mnstate.edu.
- IT support. Contact the Help Desk at support@mnstate.edu, 218.477.2603 or Library 122 to report service outages. Visit the Help Desk Information webpage for troubleshooting articles.
- Telework Access and Remote Connectivity. We’ve started the design and buildout tasks for Telework Access and Remote Connectivity. We have quite a bit of work to do in this space but are making good progress. Look for a more detailed timeframe in a future communication.
- H Drive files. The migration of H Drive files for all employees is about 75% complete. The last group of employee accounts will kick off in the next few days. If you see a new folder called ‘HomeDrive’ in your OneDrive, your migration is in process. If you expect to see files and that folder is empty, your migration isn’t completed yet. We will notify you when your account has migrated and ask you to verify the contents.
- Share Drive Update. The migration of Share Drive files continues. The new Share Drive solution is a new Teams site where files will be moved. The benefits of this solution include:
- Files can be accessed without VPN, reducing our overall use of VPN as a campus.
- The system has automatic scans to ensure files are virus free and safe to use.
- Permissions for access to the files can be set by user/department leader (instead of going through IT).
The new Teams sites have been set up by department, assigning a departmental owner, e.g., Director, Department head, or Chair, to each site. The initial move of S Drive files has been completed and communicated to the new owners. If a missing folder is discovered please contact the Help Desk at support@mnstate.edu, 218.477.2603.
As you continue to review your migrated folders and files, Online Learning is available to work with leaders to help think through file and folder structures and support your team with training resources. If ongoing issues are discovered, a support ticket can be sent through the Help Desk.
