Q. What made you want to take a career in speech pathology?
A. My first reason for taking up a career in speech pathology was that my dad being diagnosed with ALS when I was in high school. That was my first time experiencing someone go through changes with speech and communication. I just realized that there were ways that I could help people like that. It really combined my interests of the science and theories behind everything, while also helping others.

Q. What do you like so far about MSUM?
A. My favorite part is just the campus itself; I love just walking around during lunch or after work. The campus itself and the people are just beautiful.

Q. What is something people may not know about you?
A. Recently I have gotten into puzzle competitions, we recently did one in Fargo. It is super fun and about just laughing and having fun.

Q. What advice do you have for students looking to go into a similar field to yours?
A. The biggest thing is to just keep an open mind, keep a growth mindset of wanting to learn things. Don't be afraid of new opportunities because you think you may not be interested; after doing it you may surprise yourself.

Q. What is one of your favorite places to eat in the Fargo/Moorhead area?
A. GP's Greek kitchen on 32nd.

Q. What are you most excited for during the upcoming school year?
A. I am excited to be a part of the staff and to meet new students. I'm excited to see everybody get started and get into the groove of things.

Q. Is there a piece of advice you've been given that you still use?
A. A philosophy I use a lot is to just look for the positive in things; there are always going to be bad days. If you can take one positive out of a bad situation and grow with that it can create a better mentality.

Q. If you could have lunch with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
A: Shawn Johnson, the Olympic athlete, recently had me thinking about her. I loved watching her compete, but I also enjoy getting to see her just be a mom, and I admire her business and work ethic. I would just love to pick her brain and hear all about her experiences.
