Military spouses and dependents may be eligible for a variety of educational benefits including:
Post-9/11 GI Bill
The Post-9/11 GI Bill allows actively serving military member (national guard, reserve, and active duty) to transfer up to 36 months (about 3 years) of benefits to their spouses and dependents. The benefits can cover tuition, fees, and living expenses.
Dependents Education Assistance (DEA) Program Chapter 35
The DEA program provides up to 36 months (about 3 years) of benefits to eligible dependents of certain veterans. The benefits can cover degree and certificate programs, apprenticeships, and on-the-job training.
Marine Gunnery Sgt. John David Fry Scholarship (Fry Scholarship)
The Fry Scholarship provides up to 36 months (about 3 years) of benefits to the surviving spouses and children of service members who died in the line of duty.
My Career Advancement Account Scholarship (MyCAA)
MyCAA provides up to $4,000 in financial assistance to eligible military spouses for licenses, certifications, or associate degrees.
Folds of Honor
The Folds of Honor scholarship is a needs-based scholarship that accepts applications February 1 to March 31 that awards scholarships up to $5,000 …not to exceed $2,500 (minimum payment of $100) per term.
Surviving Spouse & Dependent
The Surviving Spouse & Dependent Education Benefit program is available to surviving spouses and dependents of deceased Veterans who died while on active duty or as a result of a service-connected condition.
