Student Voter Engagement

Preparing students to become engaged citizens by taking an active role in our democracy is core to the mission of higher education. Voting is one of the most foundational and meaningful ways to participate in our democracy. With an election approaching later this fall, MSUM is committed to empowering Dragons to shape the future through their participation.

Make a Voting Plan

  • Register. It takes 2 minutes! Get started by using this online tool. You can also check your registration to make sure you’re registered in your state.
  • Learn about early voting options. Many states offer absentee, mail-in voting, or in person early voting options. See what your state allows.
  • Research candidates. Learn about the candidates running for office and any ballot measures. See what’s on your ballot.
  • Check ID requirements. Different states have different ID requirements. Check if you need to bring your driver’s license or another form of ID so you aren’t prevented from casting your vote.
  • Find your polling place. Every person is assigned a specific polling place based on where you live. Look up your polling place.
  • Share your plans! Encourage your friends and family to make their own voting plan. Then, cast your ballot and let your voice be heard!
