Norman Walz was born July 18, 1915 at Detroit Lakes, Minnesota where he grew up and attended school. He served in the United States Navy. He married Kathryn Fasching in 1937, and they had seven children. Mr. Walz was the owner operator of the Detroit Lakes Independent Oil Company from 1950-1960.

Randolph M. Probstfield was born in Prussia in 1832. He emigrated to the United States in 1852, living in Wisconsin and Michigan prior to coming to Minnesota. It is known that he worked in the lumbering business out of St. Paul and traveled through much of the country and to Latin America during the mid 1850s. In 1859, Probstfield moved to the Red River Valley area, becoming so far as to be known, as the first white settler in Clay County.

He also spent fourteen months as an FBI agent in Washington D.C. Hagen served in several public offices during his career, including Polk County Attorney, six years in the Minnesota House of Representatives, and many years as District Judge in Polk County.
