Institutions, like MSUM, must collect, disclose, and retain government data in compliance with state and federal law. Educational records are governed by the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Advisors will login to the new system with their star id and password. The system will bring up a list of all advisees for that advisor.
MSUM student records maintained by the University fall into two general categories: public directory information and educational records. As an employee of the university you have access to both categories. It is your responsibility to be aware of the FERPA policy.
The following registration resources may help answer any questions you have about registration and other academic matters.
Registration proceeds according to the number of semester hours individual students have completed with grades. Students with more earned semester hours are allowed to register earlier than students with less semester hours.
Concordia College, Minnesota State University Moorhead, North Dakota State University, North Dakota State College of Science, and Minnesota State Community and Technical College students may register for courses at other Metro College Alliance institutions under the Metro College Alliance agreement according to the following procedures.
