Today we honor Jonathan Bauer, a second-year animation major at MSUM. He is originally from Montgomery, Minn. Jonathan served in the Army for three and a half years in active duty as a wheeled vehicle mechanic and wrecker operator. He first served in Camp Casey, South Korea, then in Fort Drum, New York.
The Moorhead Area Women’s Political Caucus was formed in the early 1970s. It was connected with the Minnesota’s Women’s Political Caucus and the National Women’s Political Caucus. The goals of the organization were to get women involved in politics and to elect women to public office. The organization also worked against discrimination of women.
Florence Dalton was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin on January 16, 1869. She married Edward J. Masterson, an Internal Revenue Service agent, in Pomeroy, Iowa on May 31, 1893. They had three sons – twins Kenneth and Maurice, who were born on August 8, 1895, and Lawrence. The Masterson family moved to Barnesville, Minnesota in 1905.
The Aabye Store, later the Ericksen Fairway Store, was started in 1880 near Perley, Minnesota by Andrew Aabye. In 1884, the railroad came to Perley and Mr. Aabye moved his store into Perley. It was one of the first buildings in Perley. The store was owned and operated for three generations before its final closing.
