David J. Beauchamp was born September 6, 1940 in Langdon, North Dakota. He graduated from the St. Francis Elementary and secondary school in Langdon and then attended St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from there in 1962. From 1962 to 1964, David Beauchamp worked with the Peace Corps in Thailand.
Norman Walz was born July 18, 1915 at Detroit Lakes, Minnesota where he grew up and attended school. He served in the United States Navy. He married Kathryn Fasching in 1937, and they had seven children. Mr. Walz was the owner operator of the Detroit Lakes Independent Oil Company from 1950-1960.

Randolph M. Probstfield was born in Prussia in 1832. He emigrated to the United States in 1852, living in Wisconsin and Michigan prior to coming to Minnesota. It is known that he worked in the lumbering business out of St. Paul and traveled through much of the country and to Latin America during the mid 1850s. In 1859, Probstfield moved to the Red River Valley area, becoming so far as to be known, as the first white settler in Clay County.
John Corbid was elected to the Minnesota Legislature from District 1B in 1974 and served in the Legislature until 1980. At the time of his election Mr. Corbid was a teacher living in Oklee, Minnesota, having graduated from the University of North Dakota with a B.S. degree. Mr. Corbid later owned a resort. John Corbid and his wife, Roberta, had three children, Kevin, Rachel, and Rebecca.

Solomon Gilman Comstock (1842-1933) was a pioneer Moorhead, Minnesota resident when he arrived in the Valley in 1871 at the age of 29. Comstock was a lawyer, businessman and legislature during his life in Moorhead. Comstock was the first County Attorney for Clay county and held similar posts in Pembina and Stutsman Counties in Dakota Territory.
