The Moorhead Women’s Christian Temperance Union was organized in 1948. The WCTU grew from five women in 1948 to a membership of thirty-seven in 1960. The Moorhead WCTU is affiliated with the National WCTU and the National organization is part of the World Union which has a membership of seventy-seven countries.
This chapter of the WCTU was organized in 1891, and was named the Scandinavian WCTU. The chapter contained members from both Fargo, North Dakota, and Moorhead, Minnesota. The chapter pursued the WCTU goals of educating the public on the dangers of alcohol and drugs.

The Lucy Hayes Union was founded in 1886 and reorganized in 1889. The early records have been lost. The bulk of this collection is dated from 1933 to 1969.
Henry Nycklemoe was born c. 1982 in the United States. During the First World War he served in the U.S. Navy. After the war Mr. Nycklemoe became a lawyer and set up practice in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, sometime in the 1920s. During the 1930s he became a local judge.
Raised in South Dakota, Cynthia Palmer moved to Moorhead in 1986. Since that time, she has been involved in a number of activities with a number of organizations concerning public policies in Moorhead, especially issues dealing with poverty, human rights, community betterment, and accountability of elected officials.
Shelda Warren has always had a problem sitting still. For nearly 50 years, she poured much of that extra energy into education at MSUM – her own and that of students of all ages.
The Amphion Chorus of Fargo-Moorhead [North Dakota-Minnesota] was organized in the early 1930s by Daniel Preston, who also directed the chorus until 1948. The one hundred member male chorus was heralded as the “Men of the West on Wings of Song.” The first out-of-state performance by the Amphion Chorus was as the North Dakota Representative to the Worlds Fair in Chicago in 1933.

Mr. Eagan was born on December 4, 1943 in Rutland, Vermont. He grew up there in a staunchly Democrat and unionist household, although the community was firmly Republican in political outlook. Eagan attended Castleton Public School and Mt. St. Joseph’s Academy in Rutland.
MSUM graphic design and film students attended the 2023 North Dakota American Advertising Federation’s (AAF-ND) Awards show on February 24. They received ADDY awards on account of their hard work and creativity in their projects.
