The Schroeder potato business began with Henry Schroeder (1855-1928), a German immigrant. Henry Schroeder settled a homestead near Sabin Township, in Clay County, in 1878. He began growing potatoes in the early 1890s.
Burnett Bergeson was born in 1915, graduated from the Northwest School of Agriculture at Crookston, Minnesota, and subsequently worked for six years with the State Department of Agriculture. He later served in the Minnesota House of Representatives (District 64) from 1955-1961 and was on the DFL Agricultural Committee.
The Women’s Network of the Red River Valley was formed with the aid of a $10,000 grant from the American Association of University Women in July 1984. The Network acts as an umbrella organization to coordinate advocacy and educational efforts of groups committed to full equality for women. Its primary goal is the establishment of a workable consortium of feminist groups and individuals through a central office and a regular newsletter.

O.J. Hagen’s parents were Jens H. Hagen (1828-1914) and Gunhild Grendahl. They were married in Norway on November 5, 1855. Jens Hagen immigrated to the United States in 1869 and was followed by his wife and family in 1871. They first settled in Menominee, Wisconsin, where Olaf Jenson Hagen was born on September 16, 1872. In May 1873 the family moved to the Red River Valley, settling near Fort Abercrombie in Richland County, Dakota Territory.
Donuts for Dragons is a delivery of donuts and Dragon swag designed to make it easy to celebrate our alumni and honorary Dragons. This Dragon Delivery can be used to celebrate accomplishments, show gratitude or recognize Dragon Pride. We typically do Donuts for Dragons deliveries on Wednesdays, but we’re open to rescheduling if there’s a time that works best for the honoree.
