Study Nursing & Healthcare Abroad in Ireland May 2024

Dates of Travel: May 17-26, 2024

Study Abroad in Ireland Program Overview:

The MSUM School of Nursing and Healthcare Leadership proposal is an 8 night 9 day program to Ireland in May 2024. Students from MSUM can travel to both, the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The program will begin in Dublin and end in county Meath, and allows students to see parts of Ireland that are significant to the specific course and provides opportunities to integrate into Irish society. In Dublin students will stay with Irish host families and utilize public transportation to participate in their academic excursions. Outside of Dublin we will use private coach transportation.

Dr. Nancy Stock is leading the program from Minnesota State University Moorhead Department of Nursing and Healthcare Leadership. Classport will provide a facilitator to travel and assist with the group on a full time basis. In addition to this, Classport will work with the faculty members to set up relevant academic activities and lectures.

Students from nursing, graduate nursing, health services administration, masters in health administration programs, or any other student interested in learning and experiencing global health are encouraged to participate in this exciting opportunity!

Such visits will include nursing/health focused meetings at:

  • University College Dublin / Trinity College Nursing Departments,
  • The National Rehabilitation Hospital (public hospital)
  • The Hermitage Medical Center (private hospital)
  • Google- Medical Division.

Cultural visits will include:

  • Belfast’s divided communities,
  • Titanic Museum,
  • Dublin Castle,
  • Kilmainham Gaol
  • Galway
  • Wild Atlantic Way
  • Cliffs of Moher

Classport will organize many of the academic activities described above along with Dr. Stock and her contacts at The Hermitage Medical Center which is a Sanford Health world partner for genomic cancer testing and precision oncology program.

Classport will also provide logistic support for the program, including organizing housing, site excursions, and transportation as needed. Many of the activities on this program will require students to walk, including a walking presentation in Galway, Belfast and Dublin. Students must be aware of this factor so that they may assess their level of fitness for this program.

Estimated Cost: $3500-3600 (includes airfare, lodging, transportation, all breakfast/dinners, entrance fees). Tuition cost extra.
