Freshman Student Orientation, Advising & Registration (SOAR)
We are excited to guide you through the next step in your journey to becoming a Dragon by signing up for a SOAR!
Students Enrolling for Spring 2025
- Spring 2025 SOAR is a virtual experience which includes the following steps:
- Please email firstyearprograms@mnstate.edu indicating your desire to enroll for Spring 2025.
- First Year Programs will register you for a virtual SOAR event.
- You will receive a confirmation email for the SOAR event with a link to online orientation.
- Complete the online orientation.
- Once you have completed the online orientation, a member of our advising team will reach out to you within 2-3 business days to schedule an individual meeting to help you choose and register for classes.
Students Enrolling for Fall 2025
- Fall 2025 SOARs are in-person, all-day events where you will meet other new students, receive essential information, and leave with your class schedule. Please sign up by following the steps below:

- If distance or availability constraints do not allow for you to attend a SOAR in person, please contact firstyearprograms@mnstate.edu, and we will work with you individually.
