George Soule American Indian Center Scholarships
The George Soule American Indian Center offers scholarship opportunities to support American Indian students pursuing their educational goals at Minnesota State University Moorhead. Apply for all scholarships listed below through the university's online scholarship application between October 1 and February 1, except the Minnesota Indian Teacher Training Program (MITTP), which is administered through the Office of Diversity, Inclusion & Global Engagement and the Office of Scholarship & Financial Aid.
This scholarship is awarded to students who meet specified donor criteria. Awarded students will be selected by the reviewing scholarship committee.

Provides funding for undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor's degree and are enrolled in a certificate, diploma, or degree program with fewer than 180 attempted college-level credits. Eligible students must be either Minnesota residents who are enrolled members or citizens of a federally recognized American Indian Tribe or Canadian First Nation, or students who do not qualify for Minnesota resident tuition but are enrolled members or citizens of a Minnesota Tribal Nation.
MSUM Indian Teacher Training Program (MITTP) supports American Indian Students working toward degrees in Education. The program is designed to increase the number of licensed American Indian teachers/educators serving the White Earth Reservation area. MSUM Office of Scholarship and Financial Aid, along with MSUM Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Global Engagement work together through various types of outreach to identify MITTP applicants.
MITTP is established under Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 122A.63 to assist American Indian people to become teachers and to provide additional education for American Indian teachers. MITTP is a state grant program awarded to “joint grantees” consisting of a school district and a postsecondary institution with a teacher preparation program.
