Albina Khaliapova
Pianist Albina Khaliapova is a soloist, collaborative pianist, and chamber musician. Recipient of the Mary Sue Chamber Music Scholarship and Robinson Piano Scholarship, Albina has won multiple international competitions in Europe and the US, including the International Keyboard Odyssiad and Festival, International Music Competition ‘Citta Di Barletta’, International Competition ‘Music Without Limits’, and International Competition ‘Art of the 21st Century’.
Albina Khaliapova is co-founder of Homegrown New Music Ensemble and the founder of the concert series Women in Music: Works by Outstanding Female Composers, which celebrates the music written by outstanding female composers of the past and present. Established in 2021 with the first concert in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the series was received with strong resonance from the modern audience. Dr. Khaliapova presented the concert series in collaboration with other musicians and guest artists across the United States, including New York, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Florida. Dr. Khaliapova is also a founder of the Fargo-Moorhead chapter of the benefit concert series “If Music Be the Food…” which through classical music aims to raise awareness of the food insecurities within the local community and helps to collect food and monetary donations to the Dorothy Day food pantry.
Currently, Dr. Khaliapova serves as a piano faculty at Concordia College at Moorhead, MN, and holds her private piano studio in the Fargo-Moorhead area and contributes to the music scene in the Upper Midwest region through performance as both soloist and collaborative pianist.
Eduard Teregulov
Cellist Eduard Teregulov is an award-winning soloist, chamber musician, and recording artist. He started his musical journey at the age of five and is known for being a versatile musician with experience performing in various genres and styles. He maintains an active career with performances across the United States. In 2022, Eduard Teregulov made his debut in Carnage Hall as a featured cellist with Constantinides New Music Ensemble.
Eduard Teregulov is an avid advocate of the music of living and underrepresented composers. He is a founding member of several organizations and concert series, including the Women in Music: Works by Outstanding Female Composers, Fugitive Sound Experience, Homegrown New Music Ensemble, and Tampa Homegrown Concert Series. Amplifying and creating platforms for artists of today is central to his music career. Within the framework of his project on expanding the cello repertoire of the 21st century, Teregulov commissioned and premiered forty works for cello, including a cello concerto, works for unaccompanied cello, various chamber ensembles, as well as electro-acoustic compositions. His recent collaborations include working with composers Mara Gibson, Kari Watson, Doug Harbin, Treya Nash, Alina Akhmetova, and Steve Makela. He had been invited to present and perform at some of the major new music festivals in the US, including SEAMUS, ChimeFEST in UChicago, Electric LaTex at Rice University, New Music on the Bayou, and others.
Dr. Teregulov holds his DMA from Louisiana State University, MM from the University of South Florida, and a bachelor’s from Ufa State Academy of Arts in Russia. He currently holds a position of Assistant Professor of Cello at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. When he is not busy practicing or teaching cello, he enjoys riding his bike and spending time with his family.
Steven Makela
Steven Makela is an interdisciplinary creative artist whose work explores acoustic music, fixed and interactive electroacoustics, photography, and videography. In addition to The Still…Life Project, recent grants and commissions have supported Memories (SATB choir and piano) and Ultimate Demise (alto flute). He received a DMA from the University of North Texas, where he studied composition with Drs. Joseph Klein, Martin Mailman, and Jon Christopher Nelson, and recently retired as Assistant Professor in Music Theory and Composition (Concordia College, Moorhead, MN).
Steven Makela is a fiscal year 2026 recipient of a Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.
