Current Projects
The Comprehensive Facilities Plan is a 20-year world-class, globally innovative vision that “right sizes” the campus for ideal enrollment. The plan establishes a framework for inspired growth and development of capital improvements on campus, including short-, medium- and long-term projects to meet the goals for the campus.
Alumni Center
A new cutting-edge alumni center that’s been years in planning will provide an unmatched experience for campus visitors. This facility will serve as a hub for events, networking, and resources; provide space for student and community interactions; and serve as the anchor for alumni returning to campus. In addition, the center will house the MSUM Foundation.
Weld Hall Project
The recent capital bonding bill supports the long-awaited preservation and renovation of Weld Hall, the university’s oldest and most distinguished campus building. Construction bids will be received this fall for the $23.1 million project with the renovation expected to be completed in Spring 2026.
The last major remodeling in Weld Hall took place over 50 years ago. The Weld Hall renovation will address $10.26 million in deferred maintenance, accessibility and current building code requirements, provide energy-efficient building systems and create state-of-the-art, interactive teaching environments. The auditorium will be renovated into a multi-purpose auditorium/music performance venue for use as a teaching lab and lecture hall, a venue for campus film and music performances, and a space for community/workforce training events.
Nemzek Hall Project
Nemzek Hall predesign has been completed and design funding will be requested in 2024.
