History, Languages & Humanities Department Careers & Outcomes
The MSUM History, Languages and Humanities Department (HLH) effectively functions as a student’s starting point for learning to work in a diverse and global economy. Not only does the department provide direct instruction in multiple languages and cultures, but the interdisciplinary combination of areas of study in the department also encourages you to double major or pursue one of the minors as well as a major. The double-major or major-plus-a-minor tactic serves a two-fold purpose. First, it increases your marketability to employers, and second, it allows you to pursue your passions as well as consider the real life concerns of a livelihood. Yet, even in the daily grind of academic study and the future-oriented career concerns, all pursuits in the department come tempered with concern for social justice, a moral grounding firmly embedded within courses and programs.
