Computer Information Systems
The Computer Information Systems degree from Minnesota State Moorhead is a unique hybrid between management information systems and software engineering, giving you the best of both worlds. You’ll study the technical and detailed side of computers in addition to acquiring knowledge of business information systems. By taking classes in business, finance and accounting, as well as computer programming and administration, you’ll be well on your way to landing the job of your dreams.
Paseka School of Business, which is AACSB accredited, allows you to gain understanding of business, finance and accounting, giving you the insight necessary to succeed in the computer information systems field.
Computer Information System students have access to specialized computing environments that support learning, research, and hands-on problem solving. Teaching and Linux laboratories, high-performance AI servers, and clustered computing systems provide practical experience with the tools and technologies used throughout the modern computing industry.
Excellent internship opportunities exist in the Fargo-Moorhead area at large organizations like Microsoft and startup companies like Myriad Mobile or Clifton Labs, to name a few. They’ll help you gain real-world experience before graduating and joining the workforce.
Multiple closely related majors in the department mean you can double or even triple major by taking a small number of additional credits. Computer Science and Computer Information Technology, and Cybersecurity majors are also offered at MSUM.
