Enrolled at MSUM & Another School in the Same Semester
Learn how to apply for financial aid when you are enrolled at MSUM and another school in the same semester.
Home School - MSUM
Host School - The school where you will receive your degree
- Complete the FAFSA and include MSUM’s School Code (002367).
- MSUM will package and disburse your financial aid.
- Submit a Consortium Agreement if your host school is not part of the Minnesota State system.
- Credits at your host school count toward your credits for financial aid at MSUM, provided the credits are applicable to your MSUM degree requirements.
- Charge your MSUM books, course materials, supplies and equipment at the MSUM Bookstore toward your MSUM financial aid. Purchases for courses taken at your host school must be paid using other resources.
- MSUM will apply your financial aid to your MSUM bill and direct deposit any overage funds into your checking or savings account or mail a check to your local address.
- Overage funds received from MSUM can be used to pay charges at your host school. It is your responsibility to pay remaining charges at your host school.
Home school - The school where you will receive your degree
Host school - MSUM
- Complete the FAFSA and include your home school’s Federal School Code.
- If you completed the FAFSA and entered Federal School Codes for your home school and MSUM, request that MSUM cancel your FAFSA at MSUM. Your financial aid will be processed by your home school.
- Your home school will package and disburse your financial aid.
- Be aware of drop/add deadlines at your home school and MSUM.
- MSUM Bookstore charging is not available. Plan to use other resources for these expenses.
- Financial aid will apply to your bill at your home school and any overage funds will be disbursed to you.
- Overage funds from your home school can be used to pay your charges at MSUM.
- If the financial aid disbursed from your home school is not enough to pay your MSUM charges, it is your responsibility to pay the remaining balance at MSUM.
