Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

To receive and maintain a scholarship at Minnesota State Moorhead, students must meet specific eligibility requirements. These may include enrollment status, GPA, academic program, and financial need.

Enrollment Requirements

  • Most scholarships require full-time enrollment (12+ credits).
    • Full time status means enrollment in at least 12 credits at Minnesota State Moorhead.
    • Credits taken at another institution do not count toward the 12-credit minimum.
  • Scholarships are not transferable to another institution.

GPA & Renewal Requirements

  • Renewable scholarships may have minimum GPA requirements.
  • Renewable scholarships do not require an annual application, but eligibility must be maintained.
  • Failure to meet GPA or enrollment requirements may result in loss of scholarship funds.

Academic & Renewable Scholarships

  • Academic scholarships are awarded for the specified semester(s) and/or academic year, or until graduation (whichever comes first).
  • Most merit-based or renewable scholarships require continuous enrollment, meaning the student needs to enroll in consecutive fall and spring terms without a break.
  • A break in enrollment may result in loss of eligibility.

Financial Aid Limits

  • Federal regulations prevent a student from receiving financial aid, including scholarships, that exceeds the University's cost of attendance.
  • Financial aid awards are adjusted in some instances.
