Speech Language Hearing Sciences
If you’re interested in Speech Language Hearing Sciences (SLHS), there’s no better place to learn and grow than at MSUM. Our pre-professional bachelor’s degree prepares you for graduate-level study in speech-language pathology—which is also offered on campus—or doctorate-level study in audiology. You’ll get hands-on experience using state-of-the-art equipment and interact with community members in MSUM’s on-campus clinic, which is unique to our university and the region.
Service learning opportunities on campus and in the community are an important focus, especially through the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association in conjunction with SERTOMA (SERvice TO MAnkind), a local organization that promotes better speech and hearing in the community.
The Speech Language Hearing Clinic is unique to the area and provides a range of services for children and adults with communication difficulties.
Faculty-student research collaboration in the areas of child language, articulation/phonology, augmentative and alternative communication, fluency, voice and audiology is greatly emphasized.
The Regional Assistive Technology Center provides augmentative and alternative communication systems to clients.
Students present research at local and national conferences.
The Auditory Processing Disorders Clinic offers assessment for auditory processing disorders.
